I've shot both of them a good bit. I used to have a P95. Great 9mm that was built like a tank. I traded it for an XD40 after a year or so. I also own a Ruger LCP. If the LC9 had been out when I got the LCP I would have bought it. I've shot a friends LC9 tons of times and it is decent for what it is. If you really want to carry, get the LC9.

I wish I could find one of those Ruger P Carbines at a decent price. I'd get a .40 and get one of the Ruger P series .40 pistols to go with it. They use the same magazines, and are a fun time at the range.

That would definitely be a good replacement for the LC9 if you like the feel of it. Many happy owners of the Shield are on this board.
