Toyota 4runner Limited - 2WD or AWD?

I keep going back and forth between the 2WD and the AWD on a 2012 Toyota 4Runner Limited.
I don't hunt. I don't go offroad. I just drive around NOLA 90% of the time and pull a 21' bay boat maybe 2x a month.
Supposedly only 1 mpg difference between 2WD and AWD.

Sounds like you have no use for AWD and the maintenance costs associated with it. People will bring up higher resale without mentioning the higher purchase price, so that's a wash.

If I were pulling a boat id have AWD or 4WD.
A friend of mine used to have a 2wd Nissan Titan that he pulled a bay boat with and it was all that thing could do pull his boat up the shitty ramp that we usually launched from.
I'm talking smoking the tires trying to get that big bitch out of the water.

This is our baby, 2012 SR5 4WD, bought it January of 2012.
We almost purchased a Limited 4Runner, until we realized that we could fully load the SR5 for basically the same as a stock Limited, and we didn't even like the Limited rims so it works out.
^ Just a thought when looking for one.
But back on the original question, we also have a 2WD 07 Suburban and AWD '11 Yukon Denali. I guess you can somewhat compare the two, we definitely like the Denali much better.
If you don't need the off-road capabilities, and don't have to worry about snow due to NOLA hardly ever getting any, I honestly think you don't really have a need for the AWD, and you would be better off saving money by purchasing the 2WD. And I'll point out right here, you're right about the MPG, we average roughly the same in 2WD and 4WD on the Runner, so 2WD and AWD is probably about the same too.
EDIT: AWD would be better for the Boat, but if you don't pull it all the time, you could manage with the 2WD

I like rims, push button start, rear window button, and the solid black trim on the limiteds that you can't get on the fully loaded SR5. I did consider it though.

Oh, that would be a deal breaker then! Would probably go with the 2WD though. It's funny you say that since we steered clear of the black trim and rims haha. The rear window does have an auto drop, but it just takes more effort (if you put key into the trunk key-hole and turn right the window automatically drops).
Good luck on your hunt for the truck, we've got 50,000 miles on ours and it's not even broken in yet, we love it!
