For whatever arm strength Katz had it was sacrificed by his poor field awareness in 2012. He was much better at 1st.

Our team was not very deep in 2012. Coach had few options. Stony Brook exposed our lack of athleticism in the OF. Last year Coach played the guys with speed out there and sacrificed hitting and arm strength. Hopefully we'll have better balance this year. I am not criticizing the moves last year, just saying it was a reaction to the glaring weakness exposed in the 2012 Super Regional. Hell, we would have won a few games in Omaha if 3 of our top 4 hitters don't go 0 for 24.
