The bigger issue is that the parents went to the news with this.
Not only were they not embarrassed by not taking care of their child, they felt THEY were the victim and went to a news outlet with this. Showing little regard for their own character or the embarrassment of their own child.
You think the child was embarrassed because they had to eat an orange at school? I'm sure they feel much better now that the whole country knows.
The dumbass parent is short sighted and selfish.

Odds are the parents that had negative balances were sporting hundreds of dollars of tattoos? About 100%
