What I've been told as well.

Either it is totally scripted or the majority of the people selling stuff are the worst at negotiating and desperate as hell for.cash. Which most people selling something to a pawn shop are desperate as hell anyway.

If I was going to sell something to them, I would go visit their "experts" first before going in there and try to sell it to them first or at the very least find out what it is worth.

If they can't double their money from the retail estimate they are given, they aren't buying it. I love how they throw in the occasional person who's asking less than what the expert says and they end up giving the person more than his original asking price to make it seem like they are the sleezey frickers they are.

Experts values item at $5k retail, seller gets $1k, Rick prices it for $8k.

They use the same tired old lines on everyone who comes in selling something.

It is still better than Cajun Pawn Stars where Big Daddy just brings in local people he knows that have an "interesting", use that term loosely, item, that they have no intention of selling.

yep, 2011 - not big as it looks on T V - none of the 4 stars (characters) didn't appear to be around - big security guard said they were at a shoot.

I went, it's a shithole. The store is mostly a big warehouse for stuff on pawn. The front of the shop is divided up into two areas. The front part is the part you see on the show. It looks big on the show, but is actually very small and they don't have that much stuff. The back portion of the front of the store is all merchandise for the TV show. They make a killing off this shite. People were crammed in there buying the hell out of it when I went.

Basically none of the people on the show work there unless they are filming. The people that work there will give you some bogus shite about how they come in at night to work, but it is all a lie. Occassionally, they will pop in to say hi to fans, but that is about it.

It is scripted, the people on the show selling shite don't even own the shite they are selling.

I saw one guy yelling at the guy working the counter to be on TV with whatever shite he was trying to sell while I was there, it was funny.

Anything that was on the show that they have in the store is marked up at some crazy arse price.

I have also read that on the days they shoot, which is the only day the Harrison's and Chumlee are there, all the "experts" are already there at store and just come out, dotheir bit, and they go back.

They're not actually called in, drop what they are doing at their own jobs on the spur of the moment while the seller hangs around.

If you watch the show for just the angle of seeing some neat stuff it isn't bad, but as with all reality shows, it is scripted with the experts and Harrison's researching the items before their shoot. You can tell Chumlee is reciting lines. He's about as bad as Adam Levine was on SNL when he has to stick to the script.

Two or three spinoffs have been created from the show. If they did one with Rebecca, I would watch her talk about rare books for half an hour. It is kinda funny how they all typically wear the same outfit for every show.

I read what Chumlee made per episode and, if accurate, it was pretty damn impressive.

I have a buddy whose parents went there. They said it was basically a set with a bunch of junk pawn stars novelty items for sale (cards, key chains, ect.).

If you're on the way to fremont st it's not a bad detour. But I wouldn't go again. We only saw Chumlee when we went and he acted like he was way to important to speak to us. The place is small and unimpressive really. This was back when I liked the show in 2009, but the wife and I were like, this is it?
