I would like something to fit 5 comfortably. 2 adults, 1 teenager, 2 children (ages 3 yrs and 3 mths old currently). The wife is absolutely opposed to a minivan. I've looked at the Honda Pilot, but the 3rd row seems too small. Any suggestions?

Look for a left over 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe.

We bought one today and I think we got a pretty damn good deal considering all the options in it.

The Pilot is serviceable, but the minivan is the correct option here. My wife felt the same way, because she didn't want to be that mini-van mom, and me, not particularly wanting to drive one on the weekends (even though I knew it was the better choice) agreed to buy the Pilot. The rear seat is fine for kids up through elementary school. No full size human could ever sit back there. It's been a great vehicle, though.

Serious truth - anyone who tells someone with a family of five or larger to get an SUV, even a giant SUV, is the dumbest frick alive. It is absolutely amazing how unintelligent people (yes, I was one of them) will allow vanity to come before practicality.
