Should the "New Urbanists" support St. George?

I'm referring to those who believe that walking communities, vibrant downtowns, bike lanes, public transportation, town squares, etc. are the answers for modern living.
Wouldn't they be able to advance their social and political causes more successfully if Baton Rouge isolated its own city government and St. George residents had less say in how the city is run?
They could then more easily and more legally follow the CATS formula and pass legislation and taxes that only apply to the city limits, and not be stymied by suburbanites.
Do they believe that their social models can be self-sufficient or are they forever dependent on revenue from the suburbs?

Maybe. Like most issues, we just don't know.
Will SG still have the same representation on the Metro Council?

I think they would with the basic SG proposal on the table now. But the key would be limiting the voting on issues and taxes to city limits like they did with CATS. Of course, that would only allow them to tax city residents, not SG or Zachary or Central residents.
