Just moved back up to Mandeville, thinking about getting a kayak or looking to do some fishing from the shore for specs and reds. They have that big pier at sunset point that I havent checked out yet, anyone know anyhting about the fishing from there?
I live out towards Fountainbleu State Park

You can go fish in my dad's neighborhood. The code is #8078, and just drive straight back.
I went fishing with a canoe with my gf out there a couple of times. That lake is much bigger than you'd think. I know it isn't specs and reds, but it is 5 minutes from your house and has some big bass
Ben has been hitting up Sunset Pt lately also, so you might ask him about it

Not many options for reds/specks from the banks around here. I've got a yak, while I don't do much fishing around here, there is some nice marsh and the lakeshore between mandeville and lacombe that has plenty to offer.

Certain times of the year you can pick up specks and flounder at night off the pier. I'd suggest launching your yak out of lacombe or bayou cane.
That is whenever you get it.
