What's Zorba's in Baton Rouge like?

225 Eats has a deal for them today. Spend $18 to get $30. Thinking about buying it and giving this place a try.
Is the food any good?
What's atmosphere like? Is it somewhere I could go in my jeans and LSU polo before the basketball game Saturday night?

Do it.
Yes, jeans and a polo are fine. Dale Brown is a big fan.

Read the fine print. Deal is only Mon-Thur. You'll be paying full price if you go after the ball game....

Thanks for pointing that out.
Been wanting to try the place so I will still probably buy it.

It's ok. Used to be a really nice spot circa 1998. Their old location on Perkins was awesome.

Went recently. Notch above the usual Greek restaurant. Don't miss the feta appetizer and the hummus. Gyro plate is pretty money. Just wish they would give you whole pita instead of cut up pieces.

Zorba's is fantastic. Used to love the old place on Perkins Road growing up. Now that I live in Houston, I try to eat there when I come back home. Me and the wife both love it.
The Saganaki as an appetizer is hard to beat. Kasseri cheese with wine and lemon on it flambéed by your table.
I usually get the combination souvlaki for my meal when we go. Chicken, beef and gyros. Really good food.

Oh yeah. Always get the gyros with tzatziki sauce. And extra tzatziki. Delicious.
I don't know if you have ever been there, but Alexander the Great is a really good upscale Greek joint. It's near the Galleria and I would compare it to this Zorba's place.

it's like heaven, in bacon, minus the bacon

We went to Zorba's a while back. It was really good. The salmon was excellent. Nice atmosphere. We need to try the place again.
And we went to Alexander the Great before the LSU-Alabama game this fall because we happened to be staying in a hotel around the corner. We just got a big appetizer plate, but I don't think it was as good as Zorba's.
