OT runners, soreness between Calf and Ankle

I've been running for the past two weeks and now I've been having this throbbing pain (feels like cramps) between my calves and my ankle, it hurts so bad I can't even stand for almost 30 minutes after the run. Any way to get rid of this pain, or is it something that will happen less the more I run?

Did you just start back running? If yes, most likely culprits are an overuse injury or stress fracture/shin splints. I hope you have decent shoes and are stretching post run.

Shoes are good, and I did just start back running distance. I play indoor soccer and flag football so I didn't just start back running, just the distance part.

I run daily and have had similar issues along with others, could be
stress fracture/shin splints
strained ligament
achilles
strained calf
turf toe
Only real remedy for all of them is the tried and true R.I.C.E
The more you run the better it'll get, as long as your technique is sound.
ETA: I am a doctor, but I am not licensed or registered in any capacity, and I have never been to medical school. All about who you know right

I will tell you what I used to tell my team guys. If it hurts that bad, quit doing that. Distance running is tough on the body. Work into it slowly. Also, and I can't stress this enough, just because shoes are new and/or quality doesn't mean they are right for YOU. Go to a runners store and get their suggestions. I ended up going to a sports ortho with debilitating leg pain. Guy put me in custom orthotics and the pain went away the next day. I couldn't believe it.

Only way to go if distance is your goal.

Achilles tendinitis. I had a bad case of it two years ago. I upped my mileage too quickly and it aggravated. All I could do was not run for a month and it healed. If you continue to run you might snap it.

Could be alot of different things, including slight strain to your soleus or minor tear or inflammation to your achilles. AS others have said, I would rest it and make sure it doesn't become chronic. If you don't rest and it becomes chronic, then it can take quite a while to heal.
I would RICE, and, as long as you aren't in pain, then do calf stretches multiple times daily, with some eccentric calf strengthening/raises daily, with icing and light massage of the achilles tendon area.

If it's between the calf and ankle it isn't shin splints. That hurts along the side and front of your shin.
Sounds more like the OP has a sore achilles. They'll heal up in a few days. Just take a short break from running.

how old are your running shoes? running in old or worn out shoes will do this. Sorry...saw your post above.
If you haven't run in a while this will happen if you overdo it the first few times you start running long distance again.
