No. They aren't. I do love this excuse though
It's no excuse. Look at the players declaring this year. The amount of underclassmen declaring is setting records every year. You can choose to think this is an LSU only problem, but it's a college football problem.

I don't have a problem with kids wanting to leave early if it makes sense for them to do so. The fact remains that LSU IS affected more than any other school. Somehow schools like Bama can talk guys into coming back, but we can't. The flipside to this is if we have SOOOO much NFL talent on these teams, and they are being developed for that, then why do we not have Championships to show for it?

Depends on the kid. If you can improve your stock enough to go in the first couple rounds, I would stay.
I was thinking about the Mannings when I wrote my comment. Both stayed and both had huge policies with Lloyds of London.

So if you were working in an unpaid internship and someone came and offered you the job of your dreams, you would tell them, "No thanks. I'm going to stay with by unpaid internship." ???
I would bolt as early as possible if I was getting paid like an NFL player. Plus, 6th/7th round money isn't that different from 2nd/3rd round money from what I understand.

I think it makes more sense for a QB than most positions. Also, some of these guys really do enjoy college life, but I'm guessing they are few and far between.
These days if the NFL doesn't work out, you can finish your degree from the comfort of your own home.

Well when you put it that way...

Yea, it also makes the decision to stay easier when you're from such a wealthy family. Those LoL policies couldn't have been cheap.
I enjoyed college life and I was never QB1. Hard to imagine their enjoyment.

Pretty sure they are losing like 4 just on defense.

NFL talent doesn't directly translate into wins. That's why you play. It just so happens that the teams we play against, are also loaded with NFL talent.

this is what the staff is selling
I think this is a big part of why LSU has so many leaving early. Our coaches push this hard to recruits. They have to IMO when going up against BAMA who has 3 out of 4 NC and other schools with less honorable tactics.

Pretty funny.

You are comparing kids that get everything (housing, food, tuition, books, etc) paid for them as unpaid interns?

. It just seems like at LSU les gets the kids to come here, but then they get sick of playing for him or get into trouble and get out. Bottom line it's how can I make the money as fast as I can. Then when they don't get drafted high or not get drafted at all and don't make the teams, it's dam I should have stayed. FAST CASH!! Too many agents and scouts! Just like baseball wants them right away.
Pretty much every one has made a team you dumb frick

And yes, this is happening or is starting to happen everywhere else. All you have to do is watch the recruits announce their school of choice.
What do they all say now? "I will be spending the next 3 or 4 years at..." And they all don't come to only lsu

If someone was willing to pay me atleast 500k right now, I would stop everything and walk out!

It's all about the fast cash. What school can I go to where I will play as a freshman, take my bumps, make a name for myself in the second year, and then haul arse out after my junior year. We had 6 four year players here last year that left.
Barrow, Loston, Mett here this year for 5 years

Agreed! The good ones are going to go no matter what school they go to. If Collins stays it will be a shock. He's definitely thinking legacy if he stays. None of these other players wants anything but money. Sad. One day they will wonder what could have been. Such is Life.

LSU losses more quality jrs than any school. We may never have a great player stay for his sr. year again. Everyone complains then tells them to go. I even heard one of the media comment that a certain jr, may not even get drafted ,but should leave and test his free agency chances. This is insane. How do we expect to ever have a shot at another NC, LSU should completely do away with redshirting. This is 2014, injuries happen and they are healed to go on and have great football careers. What if Hill would have stayed, maybe a shot at a Heisman maybe a NC? This would definatly up his signing contract. This means nothing anymore. LSU fans complain about all the early departures , then almost to a man say they should leave. A college degree, that's a joke, never even considered.

this has everything to do with the new CBA. Nothing more, nothing less.

but in some ways the question is whether or not it is better to stay one more year and maximize the first contract. lots of guys do it. aTm has had first round grades on ol the past 2 years and they both returned to school. bama had McCarron and mosely return. Oregon qb is returning. the best financial decision for some of these kids is to return to school and some (not many) choose to do it.
Yeah and LSU has had Srs on the last 3 teams that could have went to the nfl and didnt. They will have some next year as well.
