Bypass the youth model(unless its a decent bolt gun that you can put a adult stock on later) and get a 7mm-08. The reason I say bypass the youth model is because seems what most people choose for a youth model is the crack barrel rifles. Those sumbucks can packa lot bigger punch than a full size in the same caliber.

I made that mistake. When my oldest boy was pretty small, I kinda got on his arse for complaining about his recoil from his .410 youth model.

When I finally tried it one time...DAYUM! That little youth model had double the kick of my full-size .410.

I earned the Bad Dad award on that one.
