10 more days and I can think about getting back in the game again
I have a longer wait and it's killing me. I just sold a couple of big jobs and I'm nearly finished with my required spending on the ones I just got. Have $5k to go on the Citi Executive which will happen this week and I'm done.

I think my wife will have to get a couple of new cards in the next couple of months if I see any good promos, so I'll have something to entertain me. I need to get an Arrival or Venture card to pay for some of my ancillary expenses. Hoping one of those bumps up their offers.

Yeah. There was a 100,000 Avios offer on the British Airways Chase card last year. I'm hoping that one comes back.

quote:Yes. Flying out of MSY it doesn't offer "great" value since there are very few directs, but with 100k miles, it still has nice value. Was that a targeted offer?

Have you been reading about the people getting blackballed from Citi and Chase lately? Interesting stuff there.
Qu'est-ce qui se passe?

Oh, forgot to mention. When I was on the phone with Amex she told me that Platinum members now have free 2 day shipping from participating stores. Said to go to this link for shoprunner . com and just join up.
Not sure I will but figured I'd pass it along if someone could use it.

Does anyone know of any "office supply stores" in Baton Rouge other than Office Depot on College? It has a decent gift card selection, but I would like more options.

You can try Office Max on Siegen. I haven't been, but possibly worth a shot.
I need some grocery stores that carry $500 MVOs.

I've never had luck at finding anything at a grocery store worth any thing. I've checked Robert's, Winn Dixie, Rouse's, Whole Foods, etc. Very annoying.

hmm. I've only checked at a few with no luck. Might have to do some looking around this weekend.

However, if you can transfer your miles into British Airways Avios you can get a huge bang for the buck because BA bases their points use schedule on the distance of the flight.
Interesting. I only travel for work about 6-8 weeks a year so I don't have many miles, and lately, most of my travel has been on SWA.
I have about 25k miles on United, and I have 120k UR points. If I wanted to use miles/points towards a flight to Europe, would I be better off getting the CSP and transferring the 120K to United or just booking through Chase?
ETA: I also have 350K Marriott points. I doubt that would factor into the equation at all, but it will be nice to book a few rooms in Europe with those.

Transfer 95k UR points to United.
Did you earn points through Ink cards?
Google United Open Jaws and stopover rules. Can really add value/convenience to the price of your Europe flight.

You can also transfer Marriott points to certain airlines but it's like 3 Marriott points for 1 mile.
United is probably your best bet to transfer the UR points. What's interesting about British Airways Avios is that they are fantastic to use to fly with a OneWorld partner but they absolutely suck to use for a British Airways flight.

Why only 95k as opposed to the full 120k. Also, whats the current sign-up bonus for the CSP? Because I would presumably add that to my current UR points balance.

No, I actually have the standard sapphire (no-fee). I applied 3 years ago right after I graduated college, and I didn't really research all the different points options as much as I should have. I knew I wanted points (not just cash back), and I didn't want an annual fee because I was afraid that it didn't really make sense for my situation. Chase Sapphire seemed as good as anything else to me at the time. Now I have a couple of other CCs.

CSP signup bonus is 40000 UR points for $3K spend in 3 months.

Dang, that's it? I was hoping for more. My Marriott signup bonus was 70k, which was why I decided to pull the trigger. I think it was temporary "special". Does CSP ever change or has it always been 40k?

Because you said you already had 25k United points?

Without the Ink or the CSP you can not transfer to UR partners like United. You can only book travel through UR.
To really utilize UR points you need an Ink or CSP.

But what is magical about 120k? I have 120k UR points and I have 25k united points. Why wouldn't I transfer all 120K UR points to United and then I would have 145K?

I know. That's why I was asking my question. I currently have the regular sapphire, but I am thinking about getting the Preferred. I am basically just trying to figure out if the ability to transfer really makes that big of a difference.

UR points =/= Marriot points.
I understand that. But even if you value Marriott points at .85 x UR points (I think I remember seeing that on flyertalk or nerdwallet or something), it's substantially more than the CSP.

Oh I'm sorry. You said you wanted to go to Europe, correct? 120k is good for 2 roundtrips to Europe in coach on United. No reason to transfer over the other 25k.

Absolutely. Fee waived first year as well.

I'm not really interested in comparing the two because it's complicated. Teddy enjoys typing out dissertations on the subject. Maybe he'll drop in when he gets done pretending to work.
UR points value is derived from the ability to transfer to partners. Simply put, I'd take 40k UR points all day over 70k Marriot points.
