Two things.

Your first paragraph is actually not accurate. There are exceptions - broad ones - to the posting/waiting period laws.

People assume Strong always wanted to bring in Watson but his public comments actually refute this notion, mainly because Watson does not have Texas ties and is not known as a spread offense guy.

I have no idea who he will bring in however. I agree that if you have a blank check you shoot for the stars but there is something to be said for bringing in someone that you're comfortable with. The all star lineup doesn't always win.

Strong may have a short leash but he'll get at least 4 years, imo. We don't need anymore coaches being absolved of their failures by donors.

No way he gets 4 years if he has 1 losing record he is gone.

Looking at OSU OC Mike Yurcich is so meh.

Word on the street is that Watson and Wickline will be co-OC. Which means that Watson is the OC, but due to the negative feedback from the initial word that he was the guy, Strong has to hide that fact under the co-OC contrivance. This also means that Texas whiffed on a "splash" OC hire.
