You can thank President Powers mostly. He was never a Saban man, and may have risked his career over this move. Time will tell.

Interesting that you almost never hear a peep out of A&M's big donors (Richardson, McFerrin, Cox, Mays, Zachry, etc.). The regents, on the other hand, and the elected officials are another story.
