I'm 42 and though they think they caught it early, it is located very close to the lymph nodes in my left arm. That, along with the fact that I have a long history of breast cancer in my family and tested positive for the genetic factor, makes them want to do a double mastectomy with reconstruction. I suppose that's what this first surgical appt is for..to discuss the options. But I was told that the decision has to be made fast bc they want to act on it fast bc of the possibility of metastasis to other organs. They just found the lump last week.
