eyepooted,
The Havalon's good for skinning deer, as long as that's all it's being used for. All the deer I killed this year were bullets that I'd never used before. Consequently, I opened the chests on the deer to see just how the bullets performed. The Havalon does NOT work for opening up the chest. (Yep, I tried…. ) For the hunter who just skins or cuts meat, it works fine. The blades are easily removed/replaced and are inexpensive (IIRC, about $0.50 apiece).

Good lord! What's the pic with the ballistic damage to the carcass? I guess that's a deer? What did you shoot it with? A drone?

It looks like it'd be too thin/light for that. I like a big meat cleaver looking bastard for that.

Glad I'm not the only one here who likes to skin deer without a saw

I just decided at about 330 yesterday to go behind the camp and shoot some. Had 3 In the freezer from ealier in the year. Shot 3 more in about 20 minutes. Cleaned them and made some pot roasted squirrel and gravy along with some black eyed peas cooked down with deer sausage.
