ESPN TA&M "Biggest remaining coaching dominoes"

"If Stoops leaves for the Browns, Oklahoma would surely make Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin -- the former Sooners offensive coordinator -- a primary target. Whether he would go is another matter, but OU would try."
"Sumlin just signed a new deal that will net him about $5 million a year, but I’m told that isn’t making his name any less popular in search circles."
"I was told in early December, though, to keep an eye on the Minnesota Vikings opening. Sumlin’s wife is from the Twin Cities and she still has family there."
"I haven’t seen Sumlin’s name connected to the Vikings, but I have been told by those close to him that it’s always been a job he would consider because of the family connection. (Oh, and he could again coach Adrian Peterson.)"
Imagine how pissed some of those early enrollees would be if he left before NSD, but after they started classes... ha! I don't think he could walk away from this monster class he's amassed... but stranger things have happened.

If Stoops ends up at Cleveland I will laugh until I croak.

Stoops is from Youngstown OH. A hour from Cleveland. He would be immortalized if he won there. His stock has bever been higher.
Plus having Strong at UT means the race uniqueness card in TX goes away. I see him leaving maybe.

Stoops won't leave. Just do not see it happening

His stock has bever been higher.

People are jumping the gun with this Sumlin guy. Man I would want to see him post JFF before I made a decision on him. He does seem like a solid guy though so maybe he has the traits for a great coach but just not the track record yet.

I didnt his stock was HIGH. Its just never been higher recently and I don't see him winning a NC anytime soon. Especially with Strong eating into his golden TX base

Sumlin is another Gene C at Auburn. He shows up with arguably the greatest QB of the time and puts up some wins. He has been a terrible recruiter on the D side of the ball and now that Johnny is gone aTm will not be better. Without Johnny bailing out Sumlin the last two years they would be .500 and he would be fired already. Lucky man to walk in to the Johnny Football thing.

So everyone knew this about JFF when Sumlin showed up at TAMU? Being JFF was redshirted the year before.

Thanks for clarifying.

What about pre JFF when he was at Houston?

sumlin's not going anywhere this year and probably not for 3 years or so. i believe his contract prevents him from going to the pros for 3 years (reported by houston chronicle a few months back).
the man can recruit. he needs to get aggy adm to pony up for top asst coaches or he's gonna wear thin in college station. they were in 6th place in the SEC, had the worst defense in the league and he got a huge raise that payed him what saban was making (before sabans raise). what a salesman!

Full of fail. Sumlin won at Houston. Obviously he must have done well, otherwise a school of aTm stature would not have hired him. His QBs at Houston put up big numbers as well. Isn't part of being a good coach realizing and using the talent on hand?
You should take another look at Sumlin's recruiting of defensive talent. You must not have been keeping up. He has only been there 2 years, so whatever defensive talent he has recruited would not be fully shown on the field at this point.

It's amazing.
People refuse to get it.
Oh well.
