Jesus, you smoke a lot of weed.

so of your comparative "6 cups of coffee" per day, we're down to 5?
Posted on 1/3/14 at 2:56 pm to Rebel
I suppose so. Hell, it's cheaper than I thought. I might up my intake.

sorry northshore, i was looking at the 800 dollars per month figure and jumped to an oz a week. i was misled. the real number you spend is closer to 400 per month?
To clarify the $800 per month number came from the news report that said an ounce was going for $400 in Colorado and that was only the high end of an estimate that also included a low end of $300 per ounce. Later on he clarified that he's spending $200 per ounce and I corrected the numbers to illustrate the same calculations with $200 per ounce as a basis.

. What is being sold now is a small portion of the supply that was grown for the medical users.
quote:Is there a limit on the amount those growers can produce or are they limited to 6 plants each which another poster mentioned earlier in this thread?
The first crops specifically grown for non medical users won't be harvested until march/april.

Actually if he's spending $400 per month, using the average price of coffee in the US as a basis, that translates into 10 cups of coffee daily that the average coffee drinker would have to purchase to spend the same on coffee as he does on pot. As to who consumes the pot or coffee, that's a moot point since we're only discussing the cost of the product and not it's consumption.

OH, sorry. I though the average was between $300 and $400. So you're spending $400 per month or $4.800 per year or $13.15 per day.
That still translates to almost 10 cups of coffee per day BTW
Or a couple drinks per night at your local bar...

I doubt a dispensary is going to risk their license to sell black market product.

I'm not sure about a limit but I'm sure they can grow more than 6 plants. I do know they have cameras in the grow sites that feed directly to the state commission that oversees the program.

a recreational user of weed would be similar to recreational user of alcohol.
lets say 3x per week?
1/4 oz will most likely last a month. maybe longer.
4 dollars a day is a more realistic number.

I was not the one that brought up the pot vs. coffee price comparison.

I don't know the grower limit, but it has to be way more than the personal plant limit. I saw a guy on cnn earlier who has 5000 plants with plans to triple that amount by next year.
And if you know how to grow your own, you'll spend next to nothing on weed.
Stop trying to harsh our good time, dude.

I wonder if there has been any national studies on this matter that gives an average. I'm guessing it's probably somewhere between the 2 ounces the Bama guy said he consumes and the 1/4 ounce (or less) you say is average.

You just took it seriously. It was meant to be a joke about how much people spend on coffee in the NW. It failed.

No. I realized it was a joke. But I did see it as a good comparative tool since only pot smokers know what is or is not a lot of money to spend on pot while almost everyone knows what is or is not a lot of money to spend on coffee.

Most pot smokers I've known usually smoke at least a joint or a bowl or two a night. But who knows, I may have just always known heavy smokers.
