If you want good wifi signal throughout the house you can set up a second router to 'extend' your wifi signal to areas of the home with bad signal. Look into Apple's AirPort Extreme Base Station and Airport Express routers. I have this in my home, and it took me 5 mins to set up. Although, I bet you can do it with other routers too. But I already had an Extreme, so I just ended up getting the cheaper Express to go with it.
