I see a lot of the "Drew Brees lacks arm strength" meme here and I honestly think everyone repeating that is, well, repeating it. If you watch Brees throwing in games he doesn't have elite NFL arm strength but he has a strong arm and can make long passes and get the ball into tight coverage. Anthony Jennings looks like a good find, but he doesn't have the strength that Drew Brees has. When I made the comment that the ball floats a little when he throws it that's the same thing as in baseball where the ball stays up in the zone. A stronger arm and the ball has a flatter trajectory, get's there quicker, and will enhance accuracy. When the ball doesn't have as much on it it will tend to flutter a little more and stay up a bit, that's what I saw from Jennings. He doesn't have the arm strength Mettenburg has, or really that Flynn or Jefferson had either. Doesn't mean he's a horrible person or I wish they had not recruited him, but I doubt he has a future in the NFL, and I don't think he's on par with Drew Brees level of arm strength either.

Scottynola, you make a good point here. Above, I wrote that Brees couldn't have reached the WR on the bomb that beat Arky. But he does throw a hard flat 20 yard out, which is more important in the NFL. I'm often puzzled by Brees' inability to reach deep receivers when he can throw strikes on outs.
To make it in the NFL, AJ needs to take a page from Brees and learn to put his whole body into those outs. In college that's rarely needed, though.
