I think he has the chance to go to town on Iowa's secondary.

To be fair to AJ couldn't we just wait until after the outback bowl before placing such high expectations on him?

I think you are defending D.Gardner way too much. I've seen the young man make some shitty decisions this season.

Yeah because this is his first start after playing backup then switching to WR for over half a year. You never visit boards with Michigan fans do you? They bag on Hoke hard about play calling, the inexperienced O line and they lack of a running game. Dude gets hit on almost every single pass, these why he's been playing injured most of the year. It's also what happens when you turn him from a QB to a WR, back to a QB.

agreed...he looked very good in that drive against arkansas, but that is all we have seen of him...ever....

If you don't include all of his HS highlights but I get your premise.

A knockout performance against Iowa will have him and LSU very well represented in preseason polls.
Litmus test is Iowa at the steak bowl. And I like his chances.

Way too soon. He had just one good drive. He threw a touchdown pass to wide open receiver. Everyone jumping on this bandwagon way too soon. Give AJ a good couple games under his belt as starting QB. Just remember, everyone hyped up Jordan Jefferson for the PEach Bowl.

Sure they are, JJ played well enough for us to be excited to watch him grow.

We all need to have realistic expectations.

JJ also played with a cast of seniors who didn't want to go out with a four game losing streak. AJ's cast is underclassman who will be around with him for seasons to come.

My realistic expectation is for him to outperform Jordan Jefferson at this comparative stage in their respective careers. I think he will play well in the bowl game, lock the job up in the fall and post a more impressive sophomore campaign than Jefferson did. Jefferson passed for 2100 yards, 17tds and 7 ints his sophomore year.

Just setting the kid up to fail with all these unrealistic expectations. Kid literally throws one TD pass and all of a sudden is top 10.

Now if he goes 10 for 20 in the bowl game these same clowns are gonna act like he is a bust.

Everyone is making this guy the next coming of Jesus Christ off that one touchdown.

It's what fans do Mcdingleberry. Jammeis Winston already a legend before he played a snap of spring ball. Mariota was said to be better than Thomas and he never took a snap his freshman year. Fans do this about the next best thing. What we say on a message board, will have no bearing on how he performs. And I hope nobody is dumb enough to judge him bad if he has a medicre game against Iowa.

He has the tools, the poise, the QB coach (Cam), the supporting cast, and the system to be at least the greatest LSU QB since Jamarcus Russell.
