Not happening. Texas actually did this before when they hired David McWilliams (aka Mack I) to replace Fred Akers. McWilliams coached Tech for 1 year and performed above expectations so Texas hired him. He was in way over his head and lasted just a few years before they hired Mackovic (Mack II).

I do think Kliff would take the job because Texas could double his salary and though he is a Tech guy he also knows he is limited there. He's also from New Braunfels which is just South of Austin and in truth Kliff is not what you would call a Lubbock kind of guy

McWilliams isn't really comparable. He was the captain on one of their MNC in the 60s and was an assistant and bag man under both Royal and then Akers for like 20 years, the last 5 or so of which he was their DC. He left for 1 year and then they fired Akers. It wasn't like he was unconnected and had 1 year HC experience.
