It only takes one bad hire to destroy all that he built at BAMA. Most people don't understand how delicate a football program can be.

So true. Everyone said USC would not miss a beat because of their recruiting when Carroll left. They had like 7-8 5* in one class.

Exactly. Even a seemingly slam dunk hire is not guaranteed. You can't project with 100% accuracy that a guy will win at his next job, no matter what the resume. Hell, Saban might well flop at UT. It's a crapshoot. You want your rivals to change coaches as often as possible. Lack of continuity is a program killer.
