I can't understand why Dantonio is not mentioned often for elite program jobs. He is probably too boring for most, but his style of play and tough defense would translate to any big time program.
If Miles ever left LSU, I'd want LSU to target Dantonio or O'Brien.
I don't follow the top assistants that much since most top programs want a guy with HC experience.

For guys that haven't been head coaches yet, Kirby Smart and Scott Frost are getting a lot of buzz.

I like Dantonio and wanted him for our job last year, but his health problems scare me a bit, and his offenses at MSU have been downright anemic. Granted, that can be fixed by the right OC hire, but he's also no spring chicken (turns 58 in March).
I'm actually surprised no one in the SEC jumped on him after the 2010 or 2011 seasons when he won 11 games both years. I think he'd have been a good hire for Ole Miss. Heck, he'd have been a great get for Tennessee if they'd have cut the cord on Dooley a year earlier.

57 with a heart attack and has been loyal to msu. Also, I other than S. Carolina or Ohio State, I don't see him being interested in any other gig.
As for MSU, I'd like to see where Pat Narduzzi, the DC, ends up. Hope he does better than a MAC school.
