If Boise St had NIU's resume

where would they be ranked? (NIU came into this week 14th in the BCS)
Undefeated: check
Shitty schedule: check
Shitty conference: check
A couple OOC wins against teams from a major conference: check (Iowa, Purdue)
This is basically the formula Boise rode to multiple top 5 BCS rankings due to the love fest the media had with them.
The computers actually really like NIU. They are 7th in the computer rankings, but 17th in the Harris and 20th in the coaches.
I get the feeling that if Boise was doing this ESPN would be blowing them every chance they could, force feeding the "you can only beat the teams on your schedule" lines.

If they had beaten FSU last year in the bowl game, they'd be pretty high up right now.

I think ORegon Georgia and Virginia Tech were on a bit of a different level than Iowa and Purdue

Meh that VT team lost to James Madison the next week. That Georgia team ended up losing 4 games. That Oregon team lost 3 games.
Definitely better teams than Iowa, but hardly wins that should get you to a top 5 ranking with the rest of the shite on the schedule they played.

I think voters are hesitant to put NIU up there in the polls bc they had their shot last year and blew it

They played 6 ranked teams over 4 years excluding bowls. The rest of the time they played juggernauts like Idaho, Wyoming, and LaTech.
NIU isn't any better. 4 opponents with 1 win. Eastern Michigan kept that from being 5 with an OT win against 1-win Western Michigan.

And their schedule blows cock.

Northern Illinois is about where Boise State was in 2004, the year of their first undefeated season. What they need to do now is have two or three more undefeated seasons along with wins over several AQ conference champions and a couple of BCS bowl wins, and then they'll be where Boise State was in 2010 and 2011, when they got back-to-back top five pre-season rankings.

Virginia was the undefeated ACC champions, Georgia was the SEC East champions and Oregon was the PAC 10 champions. If you start out the season top five, you drop in the rankings as long as you win impressively. This is a very weak attempt at trolling.

How many teams schedule oppon of that degree? Look at OOCs across the top 25 and how many are playing /division/conference champions?
