Really? A 'Bama fan talking 'bout rogue programs?

Big-money SEC has NCAA's worst record for violations
BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA - The Southeastern Conference has a dubious distinction to go along with its money and national championships:

The SEC - the richest collegiate athletic league with $95 million in revenues in 2000 - has amassed the most major rules violations in Division I-A, the big league of NCAA sports.

SEC schools have been found guilty of major violations 42 times since 1953, when NCAA records begin. The Pac-10 is No. 2 with 36 major violations.

National comparisons are imprecise because the number of teams varies from league to league, and membership has changed within leagues over the years. But NCAA enforcement records paint a not-so-pretty picture of the SEC:

Member schools have been caught with major violations 15 times since the league announced its expansion to 12 universities in 1990, the most of any big-time conference in that period.

Each SEC member has been accused of a major rules infraction at least once since '90.

Of 64 NCAA schools with three or more major rules violations, eight are in the SEC. Auburn and Kentucky lead the conference's dishonor roll with six each.

I've watched almost all of OSU's games this year, and there's no good reason to think OSU would beat Alabama. Sure, play it out. Anything can happen. But barring a major fluke, I'm really not sure where OSU matches up favorably at all.

1-2, and beat the best team from the past 2 decades. Pretty solid

The 2002 Miami team was a shell of the 2001 team.
That's not debatable.

That said, I agree that the criticism OSU gets for those losses is absurd. One surprising win, one ugly loss, and one game they shouldn't have been playing in. No reason to think they're a perennial fraud.

My biggest concern for Ohio State is the lack of experience in this kind of situation. Not the national championship, but the talent level. I'm not sure there's a single player on this OSU team who has played in a game where OSU didn't have a significant talent advantage. Playing this Alabama team with a national championship on the line doesn't seem like the ideal first time. It's just hard for me to see OSU putting up a great fight unless Hyde runs for over 200 yards.

There were about 10 guys from the 2010 Sugar Bowl that are playing currently.

That Arkansas team was not more talented than that Ohio State team. Nobody is going to mistake Petrino for a recruiting savant.

Does anyone here realistically think Bama would struggle with the teams OSU did?

It would definitely be a game decided by the last possession. I'd go 28-24 (game could go either way)

Games like these are won by playmakers.

Ohio State has 3 explosive threats on offense (Braxton, Hyde, Wilson)

Alabama has more depth and overall talent.

This is an understatement. To be fair. LSU would beat OSU by 2 tds .At least.

Who gives a frick.

We also just held Indiana to 14, they had the #8 offense in the country or some dumb shite.

I figured you'd be around long enough to know the slate is clean at the beginning of every first quarter. Its absolutely pointless to say "well this tema scored X so that means Y" but I guess I forgot who I'm talking to.

BTW, OSU going to rape the Wolverines. The only Victors worth hailing will be in the Scarlet and Gray - take that to the fricking bank.

OSU's defense gave up 28 points, with 4 starters missing. Inconsistent yes but look at their numbers overall. #10 in the nation in points allowed and #12 overall. OSU at their best is good defensively

The next week OSU only gave up 14 to Indiana (#15 nationally offensively) 2 touchdowns in final 5 minutes.

And I hardly doubt a 3 loss LSU team that only beat Florida by 11 is beating OSU by 2 touchdowns.
