How are they not related?

i'm saying a once every couple of years thing

Most of the games LSU NEEDs at night are rescheduled for day. minus bama.
It really sucks that our awesome SEC night game tradition is so hard to accommodate.
Ultimately, that will make it even more special. 1 or 2 times a year.

How is it impossible to be satisfied? The SEC has guaranteed Saturday night slots on ESPN and its sister networks every Saturday aside from the one prime time telecast that CBS does. Therefore it is completely possible for at least a certain amount of requests (for any team, not just LSU) to be satisfied given the TV contracts. As to your second point about the night games, TV, not LSU, (except for one instance) dictated when those games were played. I'm not asking that LSU get every one of its games at night...that is not reasonable. What I am saying is that A&M had a request to move a (at least for now) marquee game pretty much out of the realm of possibility for CBS to televise and CBS I can fairly well predict, had to agree to it. Why can LSU not request to move ONE of its marquee games to the start time of their choice (within contract parameters)? Even if it is only every couple of years. They could request to move it to one of the 11 am games for all i care...as i pointed out in the original post, this is not really a day game night game argument. Hell maybe it's an LSU thing...maybe CBS would or might have agreed about 2015 and LSU didn't or hasn't made the request. If that is the case, then no worries.
My point is, this is a request that A&M made for special scheduling for a major game and the conference/networks agreed to it. It doesn't seem to be the norm. I am curious as to whether other schools will be allowed the same privilege. You mentioned that LSU could get this done too. You really think if LSU wanted to move the Bama game within contract parameters but in a window where CBS could not televise it, that it would be agreed to? Like i said, i'm not a everybody hates LSU/everybody else gets preferential treatment guy. I just find this move curious.

Then alert LSU's and the SEC's attorneys of this information because you definitely know what you're talking about.

What statement, other than assuming CBS had to agree to such scheduling, did i make that was not true? Wouldn't you agree that that assumption is fairly likely?

The SEC has a series of contracts that prevents LSU from playing all its games at night. Just deal with it. It's ok.

The fact that Alleva got run over on this is a fireable offense. We are a charter member they are new to the conference this is their tradition and now we are going to have to wait to use a bye week till the second to last saturday of the season so our fans and players have to leave their families on thanksgiving to play a cult of gays at their place. All this after getting screwed on bowls and bridge schedules.
If this was a home game, I'd understand the frustration, but this has only been switched for next year and I don't believe the 2015 game has been finalized for the Friday after Thanksgiving just yet. That game won't be finalized that its on a Friday until just prior to the 2015 season.
LSU still gets two bye weeks next season which is basically better than most of the previous seasons LSU has played in the past 15 years or so. If there was only 1 bye week next year, then you may have a point.
My bigger issue with Alleva would be scheduling all these neutral site games and leaving Tiger Stadium with nothing but shitty contests. That is the bigger issue.

FIFY.
Admittedly, 2011 skews all of this, but the point is somewhat well taken.
ESPN has a Turkey Day game slot to fill--A&M is more than happy to fill it: DONE (a year ahead of time).
ESPN has two Saturday night slots to fill a week--LSU is more than happy to fill either: DISAPPROVE.
Sure CBS will always have the priority, but we are coming out short due to our specific preference for night games and our current success and marketability.
The advent of the SEC Network makes this worse, since it means that the PPV-level games now will have to spread out across the day to fill the three timeslots for that network. I'm willing to bet that somewhere along the line, LSU will have to play a rent-a-win in the morning timeslot. Which will cause a real meltdown around here.

This is a fact of life. LSU gave up its right to dictate these things the second it signed up along with all the other SEC schools with CBS and ESPN's contracts and then taking the money.
hools should be more mad at Alleva for taking away marquee OOC home games every year just to get a payday. That is the bigger issue at hand.
I hate that we don't have as many night games, but with success comes that sacrifice.

This is correct--except for the part about ABC. ABC owns ESPN. They don't have the right to telecast SEC vs. SEC games on ABC, but they do have the ability to dictate what ESPN does.

I fully believe that LSU could swing their weight around more but refuse to. Alleva is weak. Guess what, there ain't a damn thing anyone can do about it. Now, Once I take over UAE and have the oil revenues reallocated to LSU, we'll go independent, have our own TV network, and play all our home games at night

No doubt, Alleva may be the biggest pushover of an AD that I've ever seen. His contract dealings particularly with Miles, the ridiculous neutral site game splurge and the refusal to truly stand up for LSU in regards to the SEC scheduling fiasco has proven he has no backbone and cares purely for money. I really wish LSU let him walk when Tennessee offered, but the idiots offered him a raise instead.

What will really suck is the years when there's only one open date and we play A&M on Thanksgiving. We'll need the bye the week before, so we'll be playing every week until late November.

i agree with this and truthfully, i've never had a problem when LSU has had to push up start times because i know it comes with the territory. the question is, does/will LSU make similar requests as A&M did, within the tv contract parameters and if so, why are they being refused? and if Alleva is not making the requests, why not?
agree completely here

Either that, or you can expect one of the cupcakes to be moved to the next to last game. can you imagine the weather this past Saturday and Furman coming to town? they might be able to just section off half of the stadium.

I think people are making too much of this. The agreement for the Thanksgiving day game only applies to next season. After that it is not guaranteed for A&M.

True. What I actually wish would happen is that A&M would go the Texas route and get to play at home every Thanksgiving. We would just play them on a different weekend when they played in BR. Example Texas played TCU on Thanksgiving last year and are playing Tech this year, both at home.
