But Magee got most of the rest of his yards in the second half against the tired defense that was worn down. Give Hill those second half carries and Hill may have had 170 yards.
Magee got 3 more carries after Hill's last carry. Take away Magee's long run and he still averaged 7 ypc.

I didn't start the thread. I just agree that Les' handling of the running backs has cost us games in the past, and he doesn't learn from his mistakes.
We won, and no fan is happier about it than I am. I was hoarse Saturday night from yelling all game. Call me a negatiger, I don't care, but I don't show up late, I don't leave early, and I don't give up on the Tigers. I stay behind them every game.

I agree that its been a problem for a large part of the season. Hill running well and inexplicably disappears for quarters at a time. But that wasn't the case on Saturday. They went with the hot hand. Magee, quite simply, was running better than Hill.

I think about 2012 Alabama when I'm happier than everyone else too.

Doesn't make you any less wrong

If anything, it might make him MORE wrong.
Ok, it probably has no effect on how wrong he is.

So you guys only look at results? So every coaching decision is right or wrong based on the result?
Skip Bertman used to give his metaphor about the model and the girl in aerobics classes. Sometimes you make the right choice and it results in bad results. Other times you might make the wrong choice and it turns up roses.
I guess the UGA coaches called the wrong 4th down defense two weeks ago? So by your way of looking at only results, we've lost three games this year because Les Miles had made bad coaching decisions.

What if Les kept running Hill the entire game without a rest. You end up with 3 very good backs sitting on the bench very unhappy. You take a chance of your best back getting hurt because he is tired. You have three running back recruits thinking that if the coaches want, that could be them sitting on the bench. Fresh legs wear out the opponent. I just wish that they would have played another quaterback late in the game. And maybe more linebackers and ends and lineman. Get the point?

Not at all. Given that you can't articulate the framework in which any given personnel decision was made because you aren't privy to that information, what should we look at?
It worked, it is good for recruiting, competition allows the cream to rise to the top, a rising tide lifts all boats in that everyone's play is elevated by the current rubric, we had more rushing yards than Aggy had total yards, LSU blew out the opponent, the backs stayed fresh, LSU won, LSU's top back avoided injury.
What's not to like?

I agree we didnt see much of him in 2nd half (if at all). I just think Magee had the hot hand then lead was so large we gave Blue some work. In general, I think Hill has been featured way more than any other back in the Miles era. (seemingly in my mind at least)
IDK, it seems weird to me... I cant think off top of my head what other premier player sits on the bench for the second string guy.
Nobody else after reading this thread seems to know either... all you get is "well, you les miles haters have to find something to bitch about after a big win"
No, its just a confusing why your best back gets less carries than your 2nd, 3rd and fourth teamers combinded.
And far is we know its not bc of injury.

Well, they're not wrong. Hill had the most carries still, but Magee had an incredible game and was clearly the hot hand. Oh yea, and we beat the shite out of our opponent. So, yeah, it clearly is just looking for ANYTHING to bitch about. Do you really care who gets the most yards when we beat a top 10 opponent by 24?

probably goes something like this
Miles sits down with Hill and asks him about his future. Hill says he is going pro. Miles tells him that he will save him in games if he is not needed to look out for his future.

He's not our best back.

Magee the hot hand got fed the ball. Les Miles learned from the 2007 Kentucky game that you have to get a hot guy involved in the offense in both halves. There, I spun it for you in a way where Les actually corrected a previous mistake he has made. Look at him evolving into a more complete coach.

Hey if that's the true reason, then that's your answer.
Wouldn't surprise me if that's it.

He is our best back, but he didn't appear to be our best back on Saturday. This is a fantastic problem to have. Can't we be happy that we have two very capable backs and that the one who will be here next year had a great game late in the season?

Well its fact, not opinon that LM has a history of sitting players that have a hot hand, of course as long as that player isnt wearing #9.

TJ Yeldon, whose carries and yards are essentially identical to Hill's. For that matter, any Alabama starting running back over the past five years?
