I interviewed for one such position with Chevron. I know I probably won't get a call back, but thanks for all of the info.

Is there a particular reason that makes you think you will not hear back?

I interviewed in early October, haven't heard back yet, and I have no rig experience.

I really hope I get a callback, though, because I would be swimming in money compared to most in their first year out of school. Plus, I'm a nerd who finds the idea of drilling miles into the ocean floor atop a giant floating platform really freaking cool.

Also, 2 weeks on/2 weeks off sounds like a fun schedule to work, and it would let me live basically anywhere in the state I want and only commute to the helicopter site a couple times a month. For someone who hates driving in traffic, that's awesome.
