I have loved the XBone so far but the newly redesigned party chat is not a good thing. I still don't fully understand it and I even read the devs' blog on how it worked and the new features it brought to the table, but I was even more confused after reading the blog.

The old party chat was perfectly fine and I wonder if they were just trying too hard to make a next-gen party chat type experience. I hope we see it simplified soon because I don't like being forced in to party members' games and sometimes just getting my friends all into the same party and being able to talk is not smooth.

Am I missing something obvious? I know about turning party chat on after joining a party, I just don't understand what they are trying to do with this new chat system.

What's the issue with it? What did they change?

I think the only thing wrong with 360 party chat is the 8 person limit. I wouldn't see any reason to change anything other than that

I mean this was the original 360 dashboard so I am assuming things will change over time.

Everyone will get used to it, we had several years to figure out the best way to use the 360. It's just an adjustment period.

Just saw this topic brought up on Reddit. This whole new chat system is a huge mess, but what is great is that Major Nelson showed up in the thread and said that he was relaying all this info to the proper people. It is great when someone in the higher ups makes themselves reachable. I think we could see improvement shortly and props to Major Nelson and Microsoft for listening.
