Anybody else catch this:
The clock stopped at 2:14 after a run. Atl called time out. Saints completed a pass in middle of field. Clock stops at 2:03-even on the defensive penalty, the clock should have run down to 2 minute warning if ATL doesn't call time out. Clock stops again at 1:58 but ATL still has 2 time outs left. Refs blew it big time.

Thats what I thought at first, like at NE, but they called 2 more time outs after 1:58. The clock was stopped 5 times including the 2 minute warning. They either got 4 time outs or the refs blew their clock management.

the Saints called one of those TO's

I dont think the Saints called 1 of those. Why would they. Peyton called time out at 2:28. Its not sh*t. nobodies paying attention cause we we won, but the refs blew it. If you have it on DVR, check it out.

No they really did get 4 timeouts. The refs did not start the clock after the declined penalty. The refs blows the whistle on the placement of the ball but they didn't start the clock nor did atl call a timeout and still had two left.

Thanks, that's exactly what I saw.

I just rewound it to see that and the holding call that was waived off, then reassessed and made no sense and gave no specific player.

There should be a required IQ test to post.

I saw this too. Couldn't understand why Payton or Brees didn't catch it? Could've been costly!

Not really because he's right.
At 2:03 the saints get a first on the throw to meachem which also def holding. The saints decline the penalty. The clock should start on ball placement. The ref blows the whistle to "start play" and clock doesn't move. We run it, and two minute warning. They still were able to stop it twice. Once after Pierre's run and once after Ingrams sweep left. Refs gave them the extra timeout at 2:03.

As if my IQ is lower than yours!

I notice this immediately that they declined the penalty however the referees never restarted the clock.

Unfortunately for the Saints, the penalty whether accepted or not resulted in the stopped clock. It's a stupid rule that favors a trailing team in that situation. It needs to be fixed, but the refs didn't screw up. Just a stupid rule.

BINGO

It should not. It should start in on the placement of the ball. That would allow a defense to commit a penalty just to stop the clock if need be, so it makes absolutely no sense.
