I got an invite in the mail to sign up for a Visa Black Card. Didn't know what it was, went to the web site and it mentioned a $495 annual fee.
Yeah, I got the same... After looking at it, I really don't think I'd see the benefit. Its got a lot of cool stuff if you are traveling non stop for work (access to 3k VIP lounges in airports and the likes), but that is about it.

I just read what the "benefits" are. Wow... What a rip off
If you want a card like that you should get the Amex Platinum.

It really is a rather pathetic attempt at tricking folks into believing they are a Hollywood celebrity.
But I imagine it has worked.

Yeah, sounded very similar to the Amex platinum and I think the fee on the Amex is about $200 lower if I'm not mistaken.
But I would like to have a metal credit card... Bounce that bitch off of the checkout counter like a

It's not even metal. Its some weird feeling lighter plastic. CSP is metal though
If you really want a metal care the Marriott Rewards Premier Credit Card is metal and only has an $85 annual fee. (waived 1st year)
Amex Platinum is $450 but they give you $200 back with your prefered airline plus access to basically any airline/ airport clubs.
It's not even close.

Hmmm, another reason to jump on with the CSP

Thats the card I really want... But I don't travel enough right now to justify the $450.

Amex won't let you change you Credit Card to a Charge card acct. I tried to switch
Said I would have to apply and then close my open account. I said no thanks and kept my Delta Amex

Credit Card to a Charge card acct.
Ok, dumb question...
Difference?

Charge Card are Pay in Full each month and you do not have a external set limit (Amex sets a limit but you do not know it)
Credit Cards have the ability to carry balances month to month and you know your set limit
ETA:
Green, Gold, Platinum, Centurion are all Amex Charge Cards while anything branded with a specific company and their blue sky and blue cash are credit cards

Ah, well I use my Amex Credit Card as a charge card anyways... I never carry over a balance.

I haven't carried a balance since I was in College and dumb. Doesn't make a bit of difference but they will not let you transfer from one to another sadly

Interesting. So can you keep your current Amex CC or are you required to cancel it? If so, what happens to all of your points?
Posted on 11/25/13 at 10:44 am to Lsut81
I could keep both but I would have two annual fees
If I canceled all my points would be in my Delta Acct since I have a Delta Amex
It would be hard to lose your points but it can be done if you are not careful (only in certain circumstances )

Any reason to hold out for a better offer from Sapphire Preferred?
Looking at it and I may go with that card. Hell, you basically get a free flight after the first 3 months.

I don't see why you would hold off. Are you going to keep it or churn it? (meaning get rid of it before the annual fee comes due)

Not sure yet... I guess I would wait and see how quickly I was building up pts with it as opposed to my Amex.
Thoughts? Suggestions?

My thoughts are if you want the card you should get CSP now because the bonuses available right now aren't going to get better. Get the Freedom as well for another 20,000 points (usually the bonus is 10,000, so again, get it now). You can transfer the points instantly from Freedom to CSP to group them together, netting you at least 60,000 UR points not counting the CSP special bonuses going on right now.

There is a solid chance I end up applying for another credit card if this thread keeps going.
