BACON

The Delta AMX you described looks pretty legit.

Is the main difference b/w that and the platinum the fact that w/ the platinum you don't earn skymiles and that you can access any sky club?

both have an annual fee right?

Only on certain fares with certain carriers and it has to be booked at time of flight.

ETA: This card has a $450 annual fee

Platinum Delta Amex has a $150 Annual Fee and grants you Sky Club access for $25 each visit.

Platinum Delta Amex also earns MQM's but at a lesser rate. 10,000 mqm's per $25k spent... Earn up to 20,000 mqm's per year

Delta Reserve has a $450 annual fee.

Both cards earn 1 skymile per dollar spent and 2 skymiles per dollar spent with Delta.

Another added feature that starts next year is that if you spend $25k on any Delta Amex they waive the MQD requirement for any medallion status

72 segments with Delta this year (assuming nothing else is added this year)

Whoa.

At least you get some perks out of it!

Do you even care to fly on vacation after all that?

Pshht, I'm at 132 with Delta this year. Probably will get Diamond on Segments in the next 2-3 weeks.

Just got the Sapphire Preferred card in the last month after racking up a few hundred thousand points with the Chase Hyatt card.

From everything I've read, the Sapphire Preferred is the most flexible and has the best perks. I'm don't have the time/energy to constantly change cards and keep track of the promotions. Give me something that pays the most back over a year or 2 and I'm good with that.

Ya, its a great card that I'll keep. The cards I will apply, burn and churn are the airline specific ones. I have no real loyalty to any of them, they are just sky buses to get me somewhere.

First up is United due to our haul of UR points we have now.

Yeah, my issue is my company pays for airfare so I can't take advantage of any of the airline promotions.

I do have to cover hotels/meals/rentals car/etc. so I try to find what gives me the most bang for my buck in those areas.

You need a good option for places that don't take Amex anyway

I hope you are not on only CRJ's

I've got stellar credit and have always avoided adding more cards because I didn't want it to negatively affect my credit.

I've currently got my Amex, Discover, and Visa... The latter two of which I have had for 10yrs, but NEVER use.

A common misperception is that a lot of credit cards hurt your score, when in reality it is the credit applications that nick your score, but it is a temporary effect, so have at it.

Do you just never run into places that don't accept Amex?

Nope... The only time that has come up in recent memory was on a road trip and a gas station didn't

Maybe I'm not doing it right

Yeah, I've been debating on getting a card strictly for Gas... Now that I know more about the promotions I may do it.

I put EVERYTHING on my Amex and have like 70k points built up right now, but I am sure if I broke it down, I could get a ton more points via other cards. I've just been too lazy.

Not that any one cares, but here is my breakdown.

CSP for all dining and non-starwood travel.
Chase Freedom for 5x category spend and non category spend. Why? I have a Chase checking account so I get a 10% yearly bonus compared to CSP's 7% yearly bonus.
Amex SPG on non-category spend of the other two cards. I just randomly pick and choose when to use this for point diversification. Some argue SPG points are worth more than UR points.

Any manufactured spend/cash equivalent purchases I spread around each card. The Chase Freedom is technically my SOs so I don't use mine. Lowers any risk.
