I vaguely remember, as a lad, being excited for an upcoming Saints season. We had such a potent offense: Manning, Muncie, Chandler, Galbreath, and we'd just come so close to breaking through the year before. It was glorious to be so young and full of anticipation...

And then IT happened. Oh well, it cemented me as a Saints fan, through thick and thin. Made the Mora years all that much better. I still remember hearing Bradshaw on Monday Night betraying his Steelers and yelling "Run Hokie Run!".

All we went through, in order to get to Brees/Payton, it makes this that much more beautiful.

MFer, of all the Saints follies in the past, THAT game was prolly the most emotionally devastating to me. After 10 years it looked like it was all starting to come together. That Manning-Muncie-Galbreath-Chandler-Childs show would likely be even better today than it was then. Easy to imagine Archie running the read option. Upon that loss I knew Nolan was done as HC. He was fired 4 games into 1980 starting 0-4. The shite only got worse finishing 1-15. Golden age now or not that one still hurts 34 years later.
