I definitely don't think he is irreplaceable.

But I also think it would be a huge risk.

I agree it would be a risk but more because of how it would look to a potential candidate that a successful coach was fired. If he stepped away on his own I believe many coaches would be interested in coaching here.

This is all I've ever said.

It's one thing to suggest you'd want Miles gone (entirely another trying to convince sane people that forcing him out wasn't irrational at best) but it's a HUGE risk replacing any very successful coach. How many times have we seen a successful coach replaced by ANOTHER equally over even more successful one? How many times have we seen a successful coach replaced by a guy that came in and was worse?

The latter has far more examples, and oddly enough, Miles fits in with the former at LSU!

Look...one of you knuckleheads out there with a crystal ball feel free to give it a look and find the that sure thing replacement. You do, I'm on board. I really like Les Miles and I've enjoyed his time as LSU's Head Coach...but if you could guarantee me that if he's replaced we go on a BAMA run, then I'd be first in line to shake his hand, thank him for his time in Baton Rouge, and pat him on his arse on the way out.

Without a sure thing, making a change because some are butt-hurt is crazy. You make a change for two reasons: 1) Your coach leaves and you have to. 2) Your program is losing or is in so obvious a state that you're forced to make a move. Florida got EXTREMELY lucky when they replaced an under-performing Ron Zook with Urban Meyer. They were the exception...
