Tend to agree. The fake punt seemed obvious at the time, even before the time out was called. Perhaps coaches overlooked that?

They were in a safe formation waiting for a fake. Bama still got it. Was a nice play design.
You had guys playing off the line waiting for them to do something. Obviously you put the returner back just in case they do punt it.
