Were Pats fans as upset as LSU fans were when they lost the Super Bowl after going unbeaten the regular season? I don't remember how the Pats fans reacted after that loss. Did their loss to Manning and the Giants leave as much of a bad taste in their mouths as the 1/9 loss did to Tiger fans? Anybody from NE want to comment?

I think Belichick had a longer leash due to the fact that they had already won 3 super bowls that decade. Unfortunately Les Miles didn't have that luxury. While 1/9 was a disaster, he could have easily redeemed himself with a win the following season at Baton Rouge. But that didn't happen after the LSU defense went mental in the last 1 minute or so and allowed Bama to drive down the field.

For certain reasons, I want to say the loss on Nov 3rd 2012 was almost as important a loss as the loss on Jan 9th 2012. It could have prevented Bama from making the title game and would have given Tiger fans one less reason for being jealous about Bama.

Comparing a last second fluke loss to an absolute arse kicking

Comparing going 18-1 in the NFL to 13-1 in college

You're a douche.

It's a fair comparison. The two greatest seasons in football marred by a championship loss.

frick the Giants and frick the gumps

Alabama is coached proper holding technique! It was a neccessity when we had a damn strong D line. This year they will hold again but it won't be as obvious with our slow to get off the block line ( if they get off) . Now that will not be the case with Landry and Beckham. They will be held all game long with no calls from the refs. If Miles doesn't get his arse fired up on this bullshite ; and it will f#%@ing happen , expect a melt down.

I've made the same comparison. New England was just making the NFL look like children that season and then just lost the most important game of all 19. LSU was having arguably the most dominant season ever up until 1/9, based on strength of schedule and we were just crushing every single team except the 9-6 win. Both LSU and New England might have had their respective seasons go down in lore as some of the most impressive ever if each didn't lose their championships

As both a huge fan of the Patriots and LSU football, I feel inclined to weigh in on this. I'm originally from Massachusetts and have been a lifelong Pats fan. I never was an LSU fan until I went to school there. That being said, the LSU loss was worse simply because I care a lot more about LSU football.
The gut-wrenching Super Bowl loss was not easy to take, but I am so into LSU that the 2011 debacle overtook Tyree's helmet catch in terms of disappointment and agony. Plus I just hate Bama.

What is your point? Going undefeated against your "equals" is pretty impressive in both the NFL and NCAA.

what gets me is several times i saw bone headed decisions from belichick. Has cost the pats at least 3 super bowls. yet Les is the only coach in america that is fallible. Making hm a buffoon and an idiot.
