Like it or not the dude is successful as hell.
I'm not a huge fan of the varsity. Its not a particularly good venue and I don't really like a lot of the bands Bowen pulls into there but the fact remains that you couldn't do his job and you truly are clueless if you think you could.

The Varsity decided a long time ago (90s) that they were in it for the money and not the music (all started with the original DIsco Retro and snowballed from there)... All the people that have booked since, have been somewhat hamstrung by that...
Add that with the fact that BR is neither a great music town, audience wise or destination wise... and you get what you currently have at The Varsity... Just be thankful if they get a band you like every once in a while...
