I didn't read the book but the way it ended the movie would have been better off developing the characters even if they added 30min to the movie.
Even for the main character, there was very little development, and the development that happened was discarded it at the end of the movie.

That is just the main character. There was zero development of any side characters. Also, the Petra relationship stuff was fricking stupid. I knew that was going to happen from the previews though.

There was a total disconnect at the ending with him meeting the bug as in his connection with the grief of eliminating the aliens and the sacrifice of life to win the game/ accomplish the mission.(It seems his sister should have had a larger role in the movie)
One of the dumbest moments was the idiotic argument Graff and Ender had at the end. It contradicts every thing Ender said earlier.

Also I didn't get the Mazerach(sp?) character in the movie at all and why it was important to hide that he lived.
In the book, they don't say that he dies. The war just happened so long ago that it is assumed that he died. They use space travel and flight at near light speed to basically perform time travel.

God that movie was an abortion.

Also, in the book, Mazer was an actual commander of an outgunned task force in the asteroid belt.

Not a fighter pilot.
