Entirely depends on what year that Duramax was made. Only one I'd think about is a very late production LLY or any year LBZ.

6.7L. The jury is still out on them, some positive, some negative
2008-2010:6.4L is a tee-total piece of crap, avoid it at all costs.
2003-2007: 6.0L is a good engine with all the mods, ie EGR Delete, new stud kit for the heads, new injectors. Need to put a good $5K in one. * Avoid the 'early' built 6.0L. Later 6.0L much better
1998-2003:7.3L was the last of the Mohicans. Best engine ever put out by Ford/Internatioal
