Hitting a target and killing a deer are not the same.
I'd like to see somebody who could consistently kill a deer at 300 yards with iron sights in a hunting situation. Pick any rifle. Deer move, blend in, your rest sucks, ect.
Steel green man targets don't move, stand out, and you're shooting prone with a nice AR.

Well the targets are pop-ups on a timed system and sure as hell don't stand out very well on your average range and the AR's you are issued in basic are far from nice...
The standard table is prone supported, prone unsupported, and then kneeling.

I've got an article 15 for head shot on doe at 275 meters in Oct of 89 at fort Leonard wood with iron sights. What else you want from me? It did take two rounds fwiw,high and outside on first. Had a LaBorde from marksville spotting for me.
