Why don't the giant eagles get more respect? The only reason Sam and frodo survived after destroying the ring was because of them. The entire troupe of dwarves plus bilbo only survived when facing the pale Orc was because of them.

Eagles are pretty bad arse, and are well respected IMO

One could ask why Gandalf didn't ask the Eagles to carry Frodo to Mt Doom to drop off the ring. 10 pages and the trilogy is over.
