How much of the sitcoms were funnier stuff is simply that the tropes we bemoan were still present it was just the first time they were present? IE the shite was still shite we just hadn't unwrapped it yet.

All in the Family was groundbreaking in so many ways. It showed us how stupid our bias was and in doing so kinda set a parameter on what was and was not acceptable in race interactions.

and OP, there are a few out there that are funny. See Parks and Rec, Community (harmonized), AD, AD's little brother (modern family), eastbound and down. Some people care for new girl..
