I'd chalk it up to that, but like I said, this is not a new practice. The jersey/gear prices were still around 30-40% higher last year even when everyone knew we were changing names after the season. Replica Davis/Rivers jerseys were over $100 during last season.

It's incredibly strange. Given the fact that the Pelicans are way behind the Saints in terms of popularity, it would stand to reason that items in the team store should be priced very competitively - if not lower - than the store on NBA.com in order to push their new brand out around the city. A lot of this stuff isn't just value added for the consumer; it's advertising for the seller as well. I may make it a point to look into this issue.
