re: Fresh Pumpkin for pie - anyone ever try freezing for future use?

I get the small orange pumpkins - about the size of a grapefruit or so. They typically say pie pumpkins on them although I am convinced this is just to charge you a bit more..

After carving larger ones with the kids over the year, I dont see a whole lot of difference overall but have not tried the large ones.
