No doubt Mettenberger made some mistakes but I blame coaching

in the most part to our coaching staff...almost TOTALLY.
a) when Mett started to push the ball and being intercepted, the COACHES should have immediately stepped in and said, "take what they give you"
After all, it was the first half, but they did nothing until the half was over
b) Ole Miss staff prepared for LSU, we generated our own game plan based on what we do...and did not appear as if our game plan took into consideration the players from Ole Miss that were out. They prepared specifically for LSU, we prepared for a "general" game.
Our coaches were either arrogant or lazy.
History repeats itself....I remember us losing to Florida (2012) when we should not have..that HUMILIATION forced our coaches to act.
It seems that they need to be humiliated to DO THE JOB FOR WHICH THEY ARE WELL PAID.
The O line did a good job, gave Mett plenty of time, but the rest.....
not so much.

They were beat by their own pride.

This loss in on Mett and the D, plain and simple

Calling the same play on all 3 of the picks has to fall somewhere on Cam.
Posted on 10/20/13 at 9:27 am to NastyTiger
Really it's on the whole team. Coaches looked lost and the team looked totally unprepared.

I split blame 20% Mett 80 % Cam..
after all Cam is in charge of that part..some blame can also go onto Miles for allowing to go on...

But that goes back on the coaches. Should have had them prepared instead on just thinking they were going to go in there and roll out with an easy win.

my point !
they prepared for LSU we did not prepare for Ole Miss.

First off, I'm not defending Leslie by no stretch, but we should've run for 300+ yards last night. It was clear Ole Miss was geared to stop the passing attack giving us the 2-deep safety look all night. If we want to be considered an elite offense, we should be able to take advantage of strategies like this. Second, Mett was way to impatient in the first half. The intermediate throws in the middle of the field were there, but Mett continued to be greedy and force the ball into double and sometimes triple coverage. Now for the D, well no comment needed.

Can was fired from a Super Bowl winning nfl team weeks before the playoffs. Just saying....

How do you know what the coaching staff said to Mettenberger during the first half?

The dig route was wide open on the two balls Mett threw into double coverage. That's on Mett. The third interception was a poorly thrown ball when Beckham had a step on single coverage. Again, on Mett. We were running the ball at will against Ole Miss; Mett had to protect the ball.

And their offense production fell off

Cam calls the plays, but Mett has other check off options if the primary receiver is covered. IMO, he tried to force into coverage instead of throwing it away or progressing to the other options.

99 % of the blame on Mett, he was off on more than half of his throws. If Mett even senses pressure in the pocket he becomes a below average QB. If he can't set his feet to throw he cannot hit any targets. And his foot work in the pocket is painfully slow.

really ? why do we have to wait a whole half to correct an obvious problem.
...we were not taking what they were given us and we were forcing throws..
split the blame how you choose to....

How many of you know it alls were on here spewing shite about how bad we were gonna beat the Rebs? How come ole piss didn't play like that against Bama? shite happens, get over it! Unless your life is perfect and you never make mistakes!

That's stupid. Mett makes good throws, and those aren't picks.

What a fricking concept! I'm sure that Mett has never been trained to check down to the open receiver or throw the ball a way in his 5 years of college football.
