The Myth of Tony Romo

So Steve Beuerlein tweets that. Tony Romo is the QB with the most ints to end games he has ever seen. Then Bob Strum tweets this beauty ,
@SportsSturm: Beuerlein on Romo: "He has thrown more ints to end games than any QB that I’ve ever seen.">>Or 50th most since 1991 LINK
Romo also has the highest TD percentage on the list, the highest completion percentage on the list, the highest yards per attempt on the list and (of course) the highest passer rating on the list -- BY FAR.
Romo's fourth-quarter TD percentage = 6.5%. Next best on that list = Philip Rivers, 6.0%.
Romo's fourth-quarter completion percentage = 64.2. Next best on that list = Kurt Warner, 63.7.
Romo's fourth-quarter YPA = 8.48. Next best on that list = Kurt Warner, 7.81.
Romo's fourth-quarter passer rating = 102.0. Next best on that list = Tom Brady, 92.0.
The only elite quarterback I noticed being missing from the list is Aaron Rodgers. He would beat Romo's fourth-quarter TD percentage (Rodgers is at 6.8%), but he also has a HIGHER interception percentage (2.7%), a worse completion percentage (63.1), a worse YPA (7.8) and a worse passer rating (98.8)
Also, Thomas Brady and Russell Wilson both threw game ending ints Sunday. Yet most people didn't even pay it any attention. The media definitely didn't

Those numbers are great, but Romo is anti-clutch. If there was a rating system for QBs clutch-ness, Romo would have a 10.7.

so beuerlein makes a comment about most INTs to end games and some dude does a bunch of data analysis on the 4th quarter??
I'm not following.

Sorry those 4th quarter stats can be misleading. A lot of those yards, Tds, completions, ints, etc. can be done in garbage time.

So why is nearly everybody's perception of Romo that he chokes in the clutch? I'm not disagreeing with your point or the stats you cite - Im genuinely curious.
ETA: bbap makes a good point: 4th quarter isn't exactly the same as "last few minutes of 4th quarter in a close game or deficit situation."

Romo is a bad arse. Always been unfairly maligned.
And I'm an Eagles fan.

How about he compile a list of times a QB throws an interception in the 4th quarter when the game is within.. say... 10 points.

He actually has more 4th qtr comebacks than Troy aikman or roger staubach. He has 18 in his career.
INTs in last 3 min of 1-score games since '06: Eli 15 (220 att.), Brees 13 (234), Roethlisberger 13 (249), Flacco 7 (136), Romo 7 (272)
Most TD passes in last 3 min of 1-score games since '06: Drew Brees 18, Tony Romo 14, Eli Manning 13, Matthew Stafford 12

And the Russell Wilson interception was on 4th and 18 were he just had to lob the ball up and try and get it to his receiver and he was down. Tony Romo had a tie game and it was either first or second down by his own end zone. Those were two different situation. Can't compare

Do they have a category for games lost due to dropping a field goal snap?

I understand he was in an almost impossible situation but that doesn't stop Romo's int on 4th and 20+ vs the Giants in the 07 playoffs as being the play they show in the highlights as the play that cost Dallas the game

That has something to do with the fact that Staubach and Aikman had no running games, bad O lines and bad defenses.
