I'm very disappointed in Pat Dy'e comments on Condoleezza Rice. There are very, very few people I have more respect for than her. I really think she will do a great job. She can't be possibly be worse than the BCS.

This must be like when LSU fans care what Skip Bertman says and nobody else does.

"All she knows about football is what somebody told her," Dye said. "Or what she read in a book, or what she saw on television. To understand football, you've got to play with your hand in the dirt."

"I love Condoleezza Rice and she's probably a good statesman and all of that but how in the hell does she know what it's like out there when you can't get your breath and it's 110 degrees and the coach asks you to go some more?"

Dye also said that the he feels addition of Rice to the committee could make the selection process less about Xs and Os and more about personal relationships.

"That goes back to politics. Which one she likes the best. Which one's the smoothest talker. The game is played on the field."

At least post the comments. C'mon, man !

You're an LSU fan complaining about the BCS? Okay.

No idea what this will be like, but appointing Condi (who I greatly respect) reeks of a sideshow. Hope it works out.

Except for in major college football. Where championships have always been determined by relationships and politics.

The very concept of a selection committee insures that this playoff will be a product of politics, who's who, and not straight x's and o's. The only way to do a true playoff is to have strict requirements for how a team gets in.

Yeah, I hear ya.

The problem is trying to narrow down 124 teams to 4. Everyone wants this to be basketball, but basketball plays 2 to 3 games a week. You can let 70 teams in the playoff if you can play that many games.

LSU fan here

I like the BCS AND wish they'd keep it. I like all the factors to play into it to determine the rankings. Just expand the playoff off the top 4 BCS.. Problem solved.

I do not like the idea of a selection committee to determine the 4 teams. There's too much room for politics and partial bias (whether you think you are not being bias, it's truly hard not to be) Rice is a huge Bama homer.. and I love me some Rice. I just hate the idea of any committee here.

No matter who is picked, not everyone will agree. I just hate she's a huge Bama fan.

I'm not a fan of someone that grew up in Tuscaloosa choosing who gets to play in the championship.

I'm not a fan of ANYBODY choosing this. Figure out a computer formula and let it play out. That eliminates bias.

She grew up in Birmingham on Dynamite Hill, not Tuscaloosa.
