Personally, I was just frustrated Lee didn't at least get a shot in the championship game. It's not like JJ set the world on fire in any of his starts. The same quick hook that Lee got for playing bad should have been extended to JJ as well.

As bad as JJ played in that game, they should have given him a breather if nothing else. Put in Lee to hand off to the FB down 15-0 I would have rather seen Mettenberger, at least Bama had never seen him.

As for the hook, lets not forget that if not for the Shady's incident, Lee probably would not have played at all in 2011. To his credit he played ok, not special, but ok. I just don't think Les ever trusted Lee after 2008 and the pick by Barron was just the final straw. Also keep in mind, Bama's lost 7 games since 2008 and JJ was a key player in 2 of them.

Let's not kid ourselves. If Saban could have gameplanned for Jefferson in the first game, he would not have been anywhere near as effective. Lee didn't play "okay" in 2011, we played quite well as a pocket passer in a Les Miles offense. His deep ball with Randle was among the best special situation duos in the country. It would have been one thing if JJ was actually fast and had straight line speed. He was just a relatively strong runner going up against a massive DL and LB corps that was ready to match up with him because Saban schemed for it. It was doomed from the start. The irony is that Miles yanked Lee at the first excuse he had to do so, while Jefferson was given shitloads of chances to frick up again. Furthermore, Jefferson showed a shitty attitude throughout the game and Lee never pouted. They had different skill sets, but Lee was light years ahead of Jefferson in terms of effectiveness.
